Week 6 Lecture Summary  Roles of Universities in Sustainable Development

In Week 6 of our lecture, Dr. Suhaimi discussed the vital roles of universities in achieving sustainable development. He also touched on the impacts of COVID-19 on higher education institutions.

Dr. Suhaimi began the session with a Q&A discussion, encouraging us to reflect on the responsibilities of universities in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Many of our classmates actively participated, sharing their thoughts on whether the current university education system is still relevant and whether it truly meets the needs of society today.

He emphasized that universities and sustainable development are deeply interconnected. Achieving the SDGs involves efforts in areas such as research, education, campus operations, and external leadership. As university students, we too must develop a strong desire to learn for sustainability this includes learning to know, to do, to live together, and to be.

Finally, Dr. Suhaimi presented several innovations introduced by universities to better serve societal needs, showcasing how institutions are adapting and evolving in response to current global challenges.

  Week 7 : Challenges To Sustainable Development  In today class in week seventh, our main topics are discussed about challenges to SDGs in social, economic and eviromental aspect Despite SDGs had general challenges itself that might be happen in our current life and it always inequalities to education acces, health facilities, food and clean water. This all major general challenges might be happend in our communities for example might be some people who have an difficulties to have a similar education acces like others. Besides, we have seen some states dont even have to acces the clean water.  Sustainable development faces several key challenges, including instability, implementation barriers, and governance issues. WEEK 4 : INTERNATIONAL FRAMEWORK OF SDGs

  In this fourth week of class, we learned more about the various conventions and declarations that have taken place from the earliest ones up until today. Besides that, Dr. Suhaimi also taught us about the meaning of sejahtera and how the concept of sejahtera is implemented within the framework of sustainable development. 1.  Global Conference for Sustainable Development We also learned about how the first convention on sustainable development was held in Stockholm in 1972. This convention focused mainly on issues concerning the Earth's environment and the challenges faced by humanity. In addition, developed countries, such as Malaysia, were urged to take responsibility for protecting the environment, as environmental problems had become severe and increasingly politicized.
